(Brockville) - Toniata Public School raised $451 by hosting a Toonie Toss for the Champions for Kids Foundation.
On February 20, all students and staff participated in the event, held in the gym, by throwing a toonie towards a set target. Students in kindergarten to Grade 2 participated first, followed by students in Grades 3-6, and finally by the staff group. The winner of each division won a Walmart gift card.
Winners were Grade 1 student River Irvine, Grade 5 student Audrey Wenham and teacher Monique Coe.
Johanna Charbonneau, event organizer and kindergarten teacher, said she wanted to plan a fun event that everyone could participate in.
"Plus, I believe in Champions for Kids," she said. "It's a good cause, and we've seen the benefits."
This is the second year the event has taken place at the school.
