(Brockville) – Over $3,200 has been raised through the #C4KHeadShave, an event created by three Brockville women in support of the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) Champions for Kids Foundation (C4K).
The event, which took place yesterday at the UCDSB Brockville Board Office, was organized by Allison Grange, C4K director of communications and UCDSB communications officer, Meaghan Stevenson, a pastry chef at NeXT restaurant in Stittsville, and Dana Pearce, a real estate agent with Sutton Essential Realty in Brockville.
Hair stylists Natasha Annable and Leigh Turcotte of Flair FX Hair Studio in Brockville, as well as Melissa Weedmark of LeMar LUXE in Prescott donated their hair cutting services.
"We wanted to do something fun to create a ‘buzz’ and raise awareness about C4K,” says Grange. “This will certainly be a conversation starter!"
“Raising money for local children is definitely worth a shaved head,” says Pearce.
Event-goers enjoyed pizza following the shave, thanks to the generous donation by Gabriel Pizza in Brockville.
The event was streamed live on UCTV, the UCDSB’s livestreaming station at the following link: https://livestream.com/UCTV/c4kheadshave
The team is still accepting donations in person or at the following link: http://www.gofundme.com/c4kheadshave
