(Brockville) – Students across the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) raised $20,500 during the #C4KDay campaign held April 16-22, 2016.
The board-wide fundraising campaign benefitted the Champions for Kids Foundation (C4K). Organized by the UCDSB Student Senate, the campaign involved students and staff hosting fundraising events at each school, including a Zumbathon, Amazing Race, Marketplace of Fun Stations, popcorn sales and more.
“I’m so proud of what the kids were able to accomplish both financially and in the caring shown for others through their support of our foundation,” said Casey Nelson, fundraising co-chair for C4K.
C4K is a charity formed in January 2008 to discreetly help level the playing field for UCDSB children and their families. Although its main focus is to assist families in allowing their children to participate in sports, arts and other fun activities outside of school hours, the foundation also meets unique needs like covering minor medical expenses (i.e. eyeglasses), providing gas cards to parents with a child in the hospital, or purchasing a winter coat for a child who needs warmth.
