Brockville Walmart Provides a Generous Donation to the UCDSB Champions for Kids Foundation
The Upper Canada
District School Board (UCDSB) Champions for Kids Foundation (C4K) is excited to
announce that the Brockville Walmart Supercentre has selected the Foundation as one of their
grant recipients for 2017.
C4K executive members
Director of Education Stephen Sliwa, Director of Disbursements Terry Gardiner
and Director of Communications Cindy Peters, along with UCDSB School Support
Assistant Michelle Rathwell were joined by Walmart staff for the presentation
of a cheque for $1,000 to the Foundation. Michelle, an avid C4K volunteer,
applied for the grant on behalf of C4K.
The funds will be
used to support UCDSB families in allowing their children to participate in
sports, arts and other fun activities outside of school hours, as well as
unique needs like covering minor medical expenses (i.e. eyeglasses), providing
gas cards to parents with a child in the hospital, or purchasing a winter coat
for a child who needs warmth.
“We are immensely
grateful for this generous donation,” states David Morrison, C4K president. “Store
staff and management are supporting children and their families within this
community.”
The corporate
giving program at Walmart has been giving hope and inspiring change in
communities since 1994.
